The Anime Has Well-Known Origins and Inspirations

While most people believe Darling in the Franxx sprang out of nowhere, especially considering it is an original animation with no manga source material, the anime was really inspired by a number of well-known anime.

Studio Trigger, which is known for producing original animation such as Kill La Kill, produced the show. The studio is recognized for its creative plots, which are always filled with over-the-top action, as shown in Promare. Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of its most obvious influences, with which it has numerous parallels and similarities. When the codenames of Kokoro and Mitsuru (556 and 326, respectively) are combined together, the result is 882. The sum is “hahani,” which roughly translates to “to become a mother” in Japanese. Kokoro does, in fact, become a mother. Similarly and depending on who’s talking, 882 can also be pronounced as “papani,” which in turn means “to become a father” and is what happens to Mitsuru.

It Has A Manga

Unlike practically every other anime, Darling in the Franxx does not have a manga related to it. The manga was created after the fact and adds to the understanding of the situations shown in the episode. It also adds realism to various events, like as Ichigo attacking 002.

The manga’s conclusion appears to be very different from the anime’s; for example, there is no VIRM. Whether or whether this is a better ending for the characters remains to be seen, but fans can expect something completely different at the very least.
