Darling in the Franxx Hepburn: Dārin In Za Furankisu, abbreviated as DarliFra DariFura. Is a 2018 Japanese sci-fi television anime series produced by CloverWorks and animated by Trigger. The series was announced at Trigger’s Anime Expo 2017 in July 2017. A manga adapted by Yabuki Kentaro and a 4-box comic manga begins serialization on the 14th. January 2018. Plot

In the post-apocalyptic future, under constant threat from giant creatures known as the Kyoryū. Kyoryū are classified into at least four categories according to their size: “Conrad” [b], “Mohorovičić”, “Gutenberg”, and “Lehmann”. Pushed to the brink of destruction, a mysterious organization called APE has led the remnants of humanity from the surface of the earth to the mobile fortress cities called Plantation. To protect the Plantation, children known as Parasites are trained to operate a giant machine called the Franxx Furankisu. Franxx works based on the synchronization of a male-female pair. Hiro is a pilot, however he is unable to synchronize with his partner and neither of them complete the training program. While fleeing the class’s graduation ceremony, Hiro meets Zero Two, a notorious Franxx operator with the Kyoryū bloodline. After Zero Two’s partner died after being attacked by Kyoryū, Hiro volunteered to become a partner or “darling” as Zero Two calls it.

Hiro

As the main character of Darling in the Franxx. He is a Parasite with the codename “016” and was once known as a child prodigy. However, he failed to synchronize with his partner Naomi and was considered a failure as a pilot. As a result, he does not know where he belongs and struggles to find his place in this world. After teaming up and experimenting with Zero Two, he became an official Parasite and found a new reason to live. Hiro and Zero Two are the newest members of Plantation 13, driving a Franxx named Strelizia.

Goro

Is one of the main protagonists of Darling in the Franxx. He was once a Parasite with the pseudonym “056” of Plantation 13, he teamed up with Ichigo to control a FRANXX named Delphinium. As an optimist, Goro likes to be open and civilized to avoid conflict, even controlling his feelings for Ichigo because of her feelings for Hiro, his best friend. He assumed the role of leader to ensure the stability and survival of the squad.

Zorome

Is one of the main protagonists of Darling in the Franxx. He is a former Parasite under the codename “666” of Palantation 13, he cooperates with Miku to operate a Franxx named Argentea. He presents himself as a bully and pervert but he is also a devoted member of the team and ready to do whatever is necessary to help his teammates.

Mitsuru

Mitsuru is one of the main characters in Darling in the Franxx. He is a former Parasite with the codename “326” under Plantation 13, and he teamed up with Kokoro to control a Franxx named Genista. He also collaborated with Ikuno to control Chlorophytum. Mitsuru develops a close relationship with Kokoro. They held a wedding ceremony but were punished for changing their memories. However, when they learned that she was pregnant with his child, they reconciled and officially married. They have 4 children together.

Futoshi

Is one of the main protagonists of Darling in the Franxx. He is a former Parasite with the codename “214” of Plantation 13, and he collaborates with Ikuno to control a Franxx named Chlorophytum. He also teamed up with Kokoro to control Genista. Besides loving foods, Fotoshi also has feelings for Kokoro and uses that as a motivation to try. However, after she rejected his feelings, he turned to work hard for his friends.

Zero Two

The heroine of Darling in the Franxx. She is a hybrid of humans and Klaxo spaiens and is a member of the APE special force fighting on the frontlines. An elite Parasite with the codename “002”, she is also known as the “partner killer”, Zero Two always accepts the loneliness due to her horn and Klaxizard blood. Over time, she begins an intimate relationship with Mitsuru and they get married but are punished for changing memories. Despite wrestling, they reconciled after learning she was pregnant with the child and later got married.

Ikuno

Ikuno is one of the main protagonists of Darling in the Franxx. She is a former Parasite with the codename “196” of Plantation 13. She collaborates with Futoshi to control a Franxx named Chlorophytum. She also from collaborating with Mitsuru. She doesn’t know how to show her true feelings for Ichigo. So she kept her thoughts until Ichigo encouraged her to ride more openly about herself.

9’s

The Nines (9’s) is a special force unit directly controlled by APE. They were created by Dr. FRANXX as soldiers and often fought on the frontlines. They also assumed the role of “secret police”, acting directly under Papa’s authority and carrying out his orders, maintaining order in the Plantations. They are not bound by any restrictions, including Plantation 13: Cerasus.

APE

APE is a political organization composed of scientists and politicians governing the entire known humanity. All civilian and military organizations report to them or someone under their authority. They have been working with Dr. FRANXX in the creation of the FRANXX program.

APE is ruled by a President who is known as “Papa” and is worshiped as a god. APE members wear white robes and unique mechanical masks.
